Peter O'Brien

FOUNDER & CEO - HIGH PERFORMANCE LEADERSHIP GROUP

Peter O'Brien

Peter O’Brien is a highly experienced corporate executive, organisational change consultant, leadership development expert, facilitator, executive coach and author. His business, High Performance Leadership Group (HPLG), is a purpose-driven management consultancy specialising in organisation and leadership development. Peter is passionate about inspiring and enabling others to Shift - to become better – especially better leaders – better leaders than they themselves ever dreamed possible – High Performance (HiPer) Leaders!

HPLG works with leaders and their teams in a broad spectrum of industries, from some of the largest blue chip organisations in APAC to much smaller organisations, all seeking to shift their performance through the application of proven performance and change management principles.

We work with Peter to facilitate the change required to drive the shift to customer centric decision making throughout the organisation.

Starting out with tertiary qualifications in Applied Physics, Computer Engineering and Education, Peter has subsequently spent 35-plus years in a range of roles that in one way or another has contributed to his study of the field of leadership development. At the age of just 29, he was Commanding Officer of a training school in the Royal Australian Air Force.

Peter held executive roles in Human Resources at Westpac – and at EDS. His extensive organisational change management (OCM) experience, has seen him take the OCM lead on a number of very large scale corporate redesign programs – including the redesign of Westpac’s retail bank.

His book ‘LeaderShift – Six Steps to High Performance Leadership’ in which he coined the phrase ‘HiPer Leaders’, brings into very clear focus what every leader at every level of any organisation must do in order to improve the decision making and maximise the discretionary effort of all in their work teams – ultimately delivering high performance.

We typically engage with Peter when our clients are seeking stronger internal, customer centric alignment across the business ‘silos’ and through the business ‘layers’ enabling the front-line to deliver memorable ‘moments-of-truth’ for every customer. With the assistance of the Vennli Competitive Strategy Platform, we can see the ‘Why’ and even the ‘What’ of the changes necessary in their business AND they are looking for help with the ‘How’ of making sustainable cultural change that really brings (and holds) the customer to the fore in their business. Richard Sellors

LOCAL KNOW HOW

Richard has worked in marketing and sales for over 30 years, and his expertise is in understanding Australia's huge diversity. This diversity is reflected in people's attitudes, behaviours and purchasing habits. Marketing and sales campaigns, however, are often deployed at scale with huge wastage and inefficiencies because they do not account for the diversity – all the way down to the local level.

He has had success in a number of different sectors and channels including alcohol, soft drinks, telco, insurance and healthcare just to name a few. He provides bespoke analysis to brands, retailers and other businesses for them to understand their target audiences and align their marketing and sales resources with far greater precision.

By analysing shifts in demography and marrying that with other data sets (such as sales data), he helps businesses understand their target audience/s in great detail.  Identifying catchment areas, optimal areas of growth, media alignment, price elasticity models, optimal product mixes and salesforce deployment and loading. His analysis is bespoke, affordable and developed specifically for client needs so it’s not only relevant but can easily be applied into business structures. The integration with what we are able to determine with the Vennli platform and other tools makes our partnership a value creating one to support continuous growth.
